Ballistic Moon, the studio behind the remake of Until Dawn, has officially ceased to exist. Legal documents initiating the company’s liquidation were filed in the United Kingdom in February 2026, marking the formal end of the studio’s operations.
The Until Dawn remake was released on October 4, 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PC. In the months that followed the launch, the studio reduced its staff: by December 2024 employees responsible for supporting the game had been let go. The studio effectively stopped active development and operations during 2025.
Critically, the remake received mixed reactions from reviewers and players, ending up with an aggregate score of 70 on Metacritic. The reception reflected a divided opinion on how the remake compared to the original and on its execution overall.
Ballistic Moon was founded in 2019 by former employees of Supermassive Games. The studio’s remake of Until Dawn was its only published title before the shutdown and subsequent liquidation process initiated in early 2026.
