Counter-Strike 2: small patch released on January 30
Counter-Strike 2 received a minor patch on January 30 — bug fixes, audio tweaks, scripting and custom map improvements

A small update for Counter-Strike 2 was released overnight on January 30. Developers applied several bug fixes and introduced a number of other improvements; the full patch notes were published on the official CS2 blog.

Among the notable changes, the way damage from a shrapnel grenade is calculated has been corrected: if the grenade detonates in mid-air near the ground, its damage will no longer be treated as if the explosion occurred directly on the surface.

Various adjustments were made to knife sounds to improve audio behavior and consistency during gameplay.

Performance was optimized for chicken explosions — the game should handle those events more efficiently after this update.

A scripting-related bug was fixed: on some maps Entity.SetOwner would not accept an undefined value when scripts were created. This issue has been resolved to restore expected script behavior.

Custom maps gained a new option to save certain settings. When the command host_writeconfig_with_prompt is entered, the game will ask the host for permission to save configuration. If the host agrees, some settings (for example, radar and other options) will be retained after leaving the map, and players who join that map later will receive a warning about altered options.

The list of allowed console commands for custom maps has been restricted to reduce potential abuse and improve security on user-created content.

The community map Stronghold was updated to the latest version available in the Steam Workshop, bringing it in line with its most recent workshop revision.

This release follows a prior update that corrected behavior for Molotovs and incendiary grenades and addressed additional issues. For the complete list of changes and further details, refer to the official CS2 patch notes on the game's blog.
