Code inside Dota 2 appears to contain a reference to an event featuring a frog-themed bard. The discovery was reported by a community channel on Telegram that tracks game data, though Valve has not announced any official release date for such an event.
Dataminer Denis Lerman, known by the handle sikle, published a screenshot showing a new unit named bard_frogling. According to his post, the unit is tied to an event and can be spawned in the game as npc_dota_frogling_event. The model reportedly includes around 50 separate animations.
Sikle had previously suggested, in early August, that Valve might introduce a frog-bard character to Dota 2. That speculation was based on various finds in the game files, snippets of other heroes' lines, and additional indicators within the data.
Separately, on the night of December 12 the developers launched the in-game event titled "Quortero's Oddities." As part of that event, players can obtain three skins at no cost. The event is scheduled to run through March 6.
At present, it remains unclear when — or if — Valve will formally release an event centered on the bard frog or make the new unit available to players. The screenshot and model details shared by sikle are the most concrete hints so far.
