Lucas "gla1ve" Rossander explains how he joined 100 Thieves and helped assemble the new CS2 roster

Lucas "gla1ve" Rossander, the coach of 100 Thieves' CS2 squad, described how he came to work for the organization and outlined the process of putting the current team together in an interview with Anastasia Heccu Tolmacheva.

Rossander said he already wanted to try himself as a coach and began researching available opportunities. 100 Thieves reached out to him relatively quickly, and their initial conversations were productive. He learned that the club had already signed players such as rain and device at that point, which increased his interest. He emphasized that he wanted to bring several young players into the lineup, making the project particularly appealing.

When asked whether tournaments such as the CCT influenced player selection, Rossander answered that it was both yes and no. Playing many online matches helps you identify who stands out at the tier‑2 and sometimes tier‑3 level, but the final decisions were made more deliberately: he and rain reviewed all potential candidates together and manually selected the players they wanted. Rossander said they are very satisfied with their choices so far and that they intentionally did not take a ready‑made core. Depending on what cores were available, they believe they made the right call. They planned to build momentum and accumulate ranking points gradually, understanding that you cannot create a top team in a month — it is a long process.

Rossander also talked about rain's transition into the in‑game leader role, praising his development. He said rain is doing a good job and that he is proud of how he works with the team. Comparing being an IGL to the role of coach, Rossander noted that the hardest part of coaching is the limited ability to directly influence the match. A coach can shape things before a game and offer rapid tactical input during short pauses, but during live play it can be stressful to watch and wish you could intervene. He explained that a coach must concentrate on where they can provide the greatest value and turn that into an advantage, rather than dwelling on things beyond their control.

The new 100 Thieves roster made its debut at Roman Imperium Cup V. The team reached the playoff stage but was eliminated in the first playoff round by BetBoom Team.
