Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko, the CS2 player for G2 Esports, summed up his thoughts on the season after the team's exit from the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025. He published his reflections on his personal Telegram channel following the elimination, admitting it was hard to put his feelings into words but wanting to process what happened over the past months.
According to HeavyGod, the campaign was chaotic and ultimately fell short of the team's expectations. He said he still cannot fully grasp all the details because he has not dissected every moment, but the season felt like a roller coaster: promising at times, yet inconsistent overall. The main disappointment, he wrote, is that the squad did not demonstrate the level of play it is truly capable of.
He described repeated situations in which the team seemed to be on the verge of elevating both their in-game performance and off-game cohesion, but those advances never fully materialized. That inability to consistently take the next step proved the most frustrating part of the year. He acknowledged the result leaves a sting and provokes tilt, but also reminded readers that, in the end, it is still a game.
HeavyGod singled out a few matches in his assessment: he felt G2 could have played better against Mongolz and FURIA, while expressing relief and pride at the higher standard they showed in the match versus Falcons, which he anticipated would be a difficult confrontation. These specific games, for him, illustrate both missed opportunities and moments when the team clicked.
He also used the post to express gratitude. He thanked his teammates, the support staff, and the club's management for the season. Although the Major will now be something he watches from the spectator perspective rather than as a participant, he emphasized that even as an observer he continues to learn and take in new lessons. The season, he said, provided significant experience both as a player and as a person.
HeavyGod apologized to fans who were let down and acknowledged their disappointment at not seeing the results they deserved. He closed his message on an optimistic note, looking ahead to 2026 with resolve and belief that the next year must be better, signing off in his customary way.
HeavyGod joined G2 Esports in January 2025. Throughout the season the club made further changes to the roster, replacing two players and bringing in a new coach. After those adjustments, G2 won BLAST Open London 2025, the team's sole title of the season. At the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 the organization finished tied for 9th–11th place, narrowly missing the playoff stage and taking home a $20,000 prize.
