Paramount Pictures has unveiled a new teaser for the upcoming horror film Scream 7, giving the franchise another promotional push as the production moves forward.
The film’s production encountered a string of personnel problems late in 2023. In November 2023, actress Melissa Barrera—who appeared in the two most recent entries in the series—was dismissed following public political statements. The following day, lead actress Jenna Ortega announced she was leaving the project, citing a scheduling conflict. Shortly afterward, director Christopher Landon also departed the production.
In March 2024 the studio confirmed the return of Neve Campbell to the franchise. Campbell originated the series’ central role, Sidney Prescott, and has appeared in almost every sequel; she had declined to participate in the sixth film, saying her pay did not reflect her contribution to the franchise.
The studio also named Kevin Williamson, the writer of the first two Scream films, as the director of the new installment. The release date is set for February 27, 2026, as the project proceeds despite the earlier setbacks.
