Liquid Swords, the Swedish studio founded by Christofer Sundberg, a co‑founder of Avalanche Studios and the creator of the Just Cause franchise, has revealed the release date for its upcoming action game Samson: A Tyndalston Story. The announcement confirms when players can expect to jump into the title from the new studio.
Samson: A Tyndalston Story was officially introduced during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted presentation earlier in December, where the project was shown to the public ahead of its planned launch window in early 2026.
The studio says the game will arrive on April 8, 2026, as a PC exclusive and will be sold through major PC storefronts. The suggested price at launch is 25 US dollars.
The narrative centers on Samson McCray, who returns to his hometown of Tyndalston with two urgent goals: to rescue his sister and to settle a debt that keeps growing by the day. The plot frames the game around obligation, consequence, and the struggle to survive in a merciless urban environment.
Samson is being presented as a grounded action title with noir influences. The developers emphasize tone and consequence rather than large open‑world spectacle, aiming for a compact, intense experience focused on personal stakes and gritty encounters.
Gameplay promises close, dangerous melee and gunfights that feel tactile and physical, along with vehicular sequences that allow ramming, smashing and drifting. The design includes limited action points tied to side activities, creating choices about how to spend scarce resources during a run.
The release will support five languages, with Russian not included among the supported locales. Sundberg has been careful to position the project relative to other contemporary open‑world series, stressing that it is not comparable to the largest AAA open‑world blockbusters. He describes the title as a focused, mid‑budget game in which intensity and design focus are more important than sheer scale.
Visual materials used in the announcement were provided by Liquid Swords. The studio’s background and Sundberg’s pedigree were highlighted as part of the introduction of Samson: A Tyndalston Story, underlining the team's experience in action and open‑world design while promising a different, more restrained approach to the genre.
