YouTube purges channels with fully AI-generated content
YouTube removes numerous accounts distributing entirely AI-generated material, including major channels; company vows action against 'AI slop' while still promoting built-in AI tools for short-form content

YouTube's management has removed a large number of channels that published material created entirely by artificial intelligence, according to a report by the technology outlet The Verge.

The purge affected some of the largest resources in this niche. For example, the channel CuentosFacianantes, long considered one of the biggest sources of so‑called 'AI slop,' was taken down. At the time of its removal it had nearly six million subscribers and its content had accumulated more than one billion total views.

Journalists found at least sixteen other channels of the same type that were deleted. Several additional accounts remain accessible on the platform, but all previously published material has been removed; among them was Super Cat League, which branded itself as a cinema for cats and published animal content rendered with very realistic graphics.

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced measures to fight 'AI slop' on the platform in mid‑January. At the same time, the company intends to continue encouraging creators to use its built‑in AI tools for producing short‑form content.

The move underscores a broader effort by the platform to rein in low‑quality, mass‑produced AI content while maintaining support for sanctioned AI tools that aid creators.
