At The Game Awards 2025 the studio Wildlight Entertainment unveiled Highguard, a new free-to-play shooter. Wildlight’s team includes developers who previously worked on Apex Legends and Titanfall. Highguard was the final title announced during the ceremony.
Highguard is a player-versus-player shooter that the studio says it has been developing for the past four years. The game positions players as Wardens, described as arcane marksmen deployed to contest control of a mythical continent.
Matches in Highguard are centered on team-based objectives: to secure victory, players must destroy the opposing team’s base. The emphasis is on tactical PvP combat and coordinated play between Wardens.
The release of Highguard is scheduled for January 26, 2026. The game will launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, and will support cross-progression across platforms.
Ahead of launch the title is already available to add to wishlists on the PC storefront, and Wildlight positions Highguard as the studio’s latest major project following several years of development.
