Ubisoft has published new information about the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise on its official channels, outlining several projects in various stages of development and changes to ongoing support for existing titles.
The next main entry is named Assassin’s Creed Hexe. Developed by veteran teams within Ubisoft, Hexe is described as a darker, more historically driven installment. Early reports place its setting in medieval Germany and suggest the protagonist will be a witch called Elsa, though the company has not released comprehensive narrative or gameplay details yet.
The publisher also named a multiplayer PvP project under the codename Invictus. That title is reportedly being handled by the same development group that created For Honor. At the same time, Ubisoft representatives have stated that some of the circulating rumors about this game are inaccurate; the studio did not provide additional specifics about Invictus or clarify which reports they were disputing.
In addition to Hexe and the reported PvP project, Ubisoft confirmed continued work on Assassin’s Creed Jade for mobile devices and on another new multiplayer entry. These efforts show the company is pursuing both mobile and live-service-style multiplayer experiences alongside traditional single-player productions.
Ubisoft said it will reduce active development resources and the cadence of updates for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. As a result, patches and new content for that title are expected to arrive less frequently going forward, reflecting a scaling back of ongoing support.
Separately, the company previously confirmed a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is in development, and it indicated that more information about the Netflix adaptation of the franchise will be shared in the near future.
Overall, Ubisoft provided a sketch of its roadmap for the franchise but left many details open; fans can expect more formal announcements from the publisher as individual projects progress toward public reveals.
